with a master's degree in brain sciences, with decades of experience as a musician and songwriter in many projects and as a sound artist with passion for interdisciplinary projects and a flair for the technology of the past and the future, maria s. honegger explores new territories at the forefront of sound, science & art by using field recordings, spatial synthesizers, various instruments, vinyl samples and her voice. in her atelier monodon, she experiments with different transmission methods for sound compositions, whether through the simplest or most complex speaker arrangements or vibration, as well as sound absorption.

with her work, she tries to raise awareness about having a more conscious approach to sound, its sources, and its blendings and reflections in real or virtual spaces. also the perception of nature and silence is one of her sweet spots - as a treasure in these times, she tries to sensitize about it in her work and living.

her sound works can be found in various applications, serving as art or music only, for web applications, in the conveyance and connection of content and emotion as scenographic tools or for virtual worlds. These creations bridge the gap between the auditory and the other senses, enhancing the user experience and their perception of reality.

she received grants by the city and the canton st. gallen, was supported by the ernst-göhner-stiftung, won several newcomer art prizes with machina imaginis in italy and was part of the hybrid reality exhibition”travel across boundaries” for the swiss embassy in seoul, south korea with the hybrid reality research team of the department of architecture of the ETH zurich. in her latest work she collaborated with wonderful artist nathalie bissig (UR) in her show “ninna nanna”. ***
